Talents of the week

Each week the dashboard shows one talent for each child, a gift to watch for and encourage, and you can write down the moments you notice.

Step by step

  1. Find “Talents of the week” on your dashboard.

    There is one chip for each child.

  2. Pick a talent.

    A chip that says Pick a talent → has no pick yet. Choose one of the ten talents (Wisdom, Discernment, Faithfulness, Diligence, Compassion, Courage, Stewardship, Hospitality, Teaching and Craftsmanship) and press Save this week’s talent. To change a pick, use ✦ on the chip or Change picks →.

  3. Let it choose for you each week.

    On the pick page, follow Name [your child]’s gifts →, tick the gifts you see in them (mark any as a focus), and press Save selections. From then on, a talent is picked from those gifts each week.

  4. Write down what you notice.

    When you see the talent in action, click the child’s chip, write a sentence, and press Save moment.

Common questions

Why does my child’s chip say “Pick a talent →”?

No gifts have been named for that child yet, and no one has picked one this week. Name their gifts and future weeks are chosen for you.

When does the talent change?

Weeks start on Monday. The automatic pick is made at the end of the weekend, or when you first open the dashboard that week.

Can I change it in the middle of the week?

Yes. Use ✦ on the chip, choose another talent, and press Save this week’s talent. It changes this week only.

Why does it keep picking the same talent?

Only the gifts you’ve named for that child are in the rotation. Name more of them to widen it.

What does the Signature talent on their profile do?

It prints under their name on their Scholar page in the yearbook. If it is also one of the gifts you’ve named for them, it gets a small boost in the weekly pick, but the weeks still rotate through all of their named gifts, and it is never picked unless you’ve named it as one of them.

What does writing down a moment do?

It saves your note, dated today, and counts toward the child’s “moments noticed”. It also makes that talent more likely to come round again in the next few weeks.

Can we add our own talents?

Not at the moment. The list is the ten talents above.
